Is it possible to receive reimbursement
from my insurance? Counseling is covered under most health insurance policies. The typical reimbursement is anywhere
from fifty to eighty percent. Check your personal policy to see what your coverage is. I will be giving you a receipt that
has all of the information your insurance company requires. You simply staple it to your claim form and submit it for reimbursement
without filling out any additional forms.
Are there any ramifications of using my insurance for counseling?
I will need to give you a diagnosis in order for you to receive reimbursement. Most people worry that this diagnosis can later
harm them. I have never seen this happen in my twenty-five years of doing counseling. There are privacy laws to protect you.
The only ramification I have witnessed might occur if you were to change your insurance company. They may limit your coverage
for counseling stating that there is a pre-existing condition.
Can I receive reimbursement from other
sources? Some of my coaching clients receive reimbursement from their employers, since it heightens their performance
and the company benefits.
Is it possible to deduct the work we do on my taxes? Some clients
are able to claim coaching as a work expense; other claim counseling as a medical expense. Since I am credentialed in both
counseling and coaching, we have flexibility as to what model you want to utilize. Check with your accountant to see what
tax deductions apply for you.
How do you expect payment? I ask that you pay at the time
services are rendered. I accept checks, cash, or credit cards.
How much is this going to cost me?
I bill at an hourly rate. My fees are comparable with my colleagues and reflective of my experience.
Do
you reduce your rates? I do not offer a sliding scale. If you would like, I can refer you to agencies that offer
reduced rates. We can also keep costs down by reducing the amount of visits per month or the length of time we work together.
I want counseling but am worried about the money. Most clients who have made the investment
in themselves and their well being are grateful they did. As a result of being happier and healthier, they end up spending
less money in other areas of their lives. As one area of their lives clears up so do other areas.
